TLDR

  • Alchemy launches AgentCard to give AI agents Visa payment access.
  • AgentCard links AI agents to Visa rails, crypto payments, and controls.
  • Alchemy adds spend limits and identity tools for autonomous AI payments.
  • AgentCard gives developers one API for agent identity and payments.
  • Alchemy enters agentic commerce with Visa-backed AgentCard payments.

AI agents now have a payments bridge into online commerce through Alchemy’s new AgentCard. The virtual Visa card gives agents identity, spending access, and payment controls through one setup. The launch also places Alchemy deeper inside the fast-growing agentic payments market.

AgentCard Connects AI Agents With Visa Payments

Alchemy built AgentCard through an integration with Visa Intelligent Commerce, Visa’s framework for AI-driven payment experiences. The product gives developers a virtual Visa payment token for agents that need to complete online transactions. It also adds a dedicated email, phone number, and crypto wallet through one API.

AgentCard uses Visa-issued tokens as its default payment path, so agents can operate on existing card rails. The system can also support crypto payments where merchants accept them. It also supports emerging agent payment systems, including x402 and Stripe’s Machine Payments Protocol.

The product targets developers building agents that need real-world spending functions. These uses include paying for APIs, buying online services, ordering deliveries, and managing automated campaign expenses. Alchemy also expects AgentCard to support prediction market activity and other always-on digital services.

Alchemy Adds Controls for Autonomous Spending

Alchemy designed AgentCard with spending controls that give users direct limits over agent activity. Developers can set merchant rules, transaction caps, prepaid balances, and budget limits before agents make payments. These controls reduce payment risk while allowing agents to complete assigned tasks.

AgentCard also includes real-time transaction tracking, which helps developers monitor agent spending as it happens. Businesses can review payments, detect unusual activity, and adjust limits without rebuilding the setup. The product keeps the payment process structured while allowing greater automation.

The company said AgentCard can upgrade payment routes as merchant support expands. For example, the system may use crypto or agent-native protocols when available. Developers can add new payment options without changing the full agent setup.

Agentic Commerce Gains Momentum Across Payments

AgentCard arrives as major payment networks and crypto firms expand tools for agentic commerce. Visa launched Intelligent Commerce in 2025 to support tokenized credentials for automated shopping and payments. Mastercard introduced its Agent Pay for Machines initiative for high-volume machine transactions.

Other crypto firms have also moved into this area with wallet and card products. Oobit introduced virtual corporate Visa spending cards tied to USDT balances for automated users. MetaMask also launched Agent Wallet, which gives bots access to Ethereum-based services.

Alchemy enters this market with strong web3 infrastructure experience and a large developer base. The company already powers major onchain applications, so AgentCard extends its role beyond blockchain access. With this launch, Alchemy connects agent identity, Visa payments, crypto rails, and spending controls in one product.
