Key Facts

According to CBS News, ICE confirmed that 36-year-old Victor Manuel Diaz was declared dead on Wednesday shortly after he was found unconscious and unresponsive in his room at the Camp East Montana detention facility in El Paso, Texas.

The agency told CBS that El Paso Emergency Medical Services unsuccessfully attempted to administer life-saving measures and claimed he “died of a presumed suicide,” although an investigation into the official cause is still ongoing.

ICE claimed that Diaz was a Nicaraguan national who entered the U.S. illegally from Mexico in 2024 and despite him initially getting a parole, an immigration judge ordered his removal from the U.S. in August last year.

Last week American Civil Liberty Union and other rights groups raised an alarm about conditions at the makeshift detention facility, calling it a “human and civil rights disaster.”

What Do We Know About Recent Deaths In Ice Detention Facilities?

Last week, ICE disclosed that a Cuban immigrant had died in custody after allegedly attempting suicide; however, the Washington Post reported that an eyewitness said that he had been choked by guards and a preliminary medical report ruled the death a homicide. Later in the week, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed the death of a Mexican national who was found “hanging by the neck and unresponsive” at an ICE detention facility in Georgia.

What Have Democratic Leaders In Minnesota Said?

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz shared a news report of the death on X on Sunday night and wrote: “This is deeply disturbing, especially after reports of growing concerns about the conditions at this facility. An investigation must take place.” Sen. Tina Smith, D-Minn., also called for a probe on X, saying: “Hearing reports that a man taken by ICE in Minneapolis died in federal custody. This is another senseless tragedy, ICE has an obligation to keep detainees safe. We need a complete and impartial investigation of what is happening in these detention centers.”

A Netflix ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Short Film Has Been Rated For Release

The post A Netflix ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ Short Film Has Been Rated For Release appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. KPop Demon Hunters Netflix Everyone has wondered what may be the next step for KPop Demon Hunters as an IP, given its record-breaking success on Netflix. Now, the answer may be something exactly no one predicted. According to a new filing with the MPA, something called Debut: A KPop Demon Hunters Story has been rated PG by the ratings body. It’s listed alongside some other films, and this is obviously something that has not been publicly announced. A short film could be well, very short, a few minutes, and likely no more than ten. Even that might be pushing it. Using say, Pixar shorts as a reference, most are between 4 and 8 minutes. The original movie is an hour and 36 minutes. The “Debut” in the title indicates some sort of flashback, perhaps to when HUNTR/X first arrived on the scene before they blew up. Previously, director Maggie Kang has commented about how there were more backstory components that were supposed to be in the film that were cut, but hinted those could be explored in a sequel. But perhaps some may be put into a short here. I very much doubt those scenes were fully produced and simply cut, but perhaps they were finished up for this short film here. When would Debut: KPop Demon Hunters theoretically arrive? I’m not sure the other films on the list are much help. Dead of Winter is out in less than two weeks. Mother Mary does not have a release date. Ne Zha 2 came out earlier this year. I’ve only seen news stories saying The Perfect Gamble was supposed to come out in Q1 2025, but I’ve seen no evidence that it actually has. The post Taiko Makes Chainlink Data Streams Its Official Oracle appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Key Notes Taiko has officially integrated Chainlink Data Streams for its Layer 2 network. The integration provides developers with high-speed market data to build advanced DeFi applications. The move aims to improve security and attract institutional adoption by using Chainlink’s established infrastructure. Taiko, an Ethereum-based ETH $4 514 24h volatility: 0.4% Market cap: $545.57 B Vol. 24h: $28.23 B Layer 2 rollup, has announced the integration of Chainlink LINK $23.26 24h volatility: 1.7% Market cap: $15.75 B Vol. 24h: $787.15 M Data Streams. The development comes as the underlying Ethereum network continues to see significant on-chain activity, including large sales from ETH whales. The partnership establishes Chainlink as the official oracle infrastructure for the network. It is designed to provide developers on the Taiko platform with reliable and high-speed market data, essential for building a wide range of decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, from complex derivatives platforms to more niche projects involving unique token governance models. According to the project’s official announcement on Sept. 17, the integration enables the creation of more advanced on-chain products that require high-quality, tamper-proof data to function securely. Taiko operates as a “based rollup,” which means it leverages Ethereum validators for transaction sequencing for strong decentralization. Boosting DeFi and Institutional Interest Oracles are fundamental services in the blockchain industry. They act as secure bridges that feed external, off-chain information to on-chain smart contracts. DeFi protocols, in particular, rely on oracles for accurate, real-time price feeds. Taiko leadership stated that using Chainlink’s infrastructure aligns with its goals. The team hopes the partnership will help attract institutional crypto investment and support the development of real-world applications, a goal that aligns with Chainlink’s broader mission to bring global data on-chain. Integrating real-world economic information is part of a broader industry trend. Just last week, Chainlink partnered with the Sei…
