David Bowie’s Albums Return To The Charts A Decade After His Death

Four albums by David Bowie — Legacy, Hunky Dory, Best of Bowie and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars — all return to the U.K. charts together. British music lovers will never stop listening to David Bowie, as he remains not just a legend, but one of the most celebrated musicians to come from the United Kingdom. Only a few days ago, longtime followers and his loved one marked 10 years since his death, and fans of the rocker in his home nation are honoring his legacy by purchasing several of his most successful albums.

Multiple Bowie collections return to the charts in the U.K. this week, while several other favorites surge in what is clearly a tribute to the late talent.

Several David Bowie Albums Reenter the U.K. Charts

Three projects by Bowie find their way back to the Official Album Downloads chart, which lists the top-selling full-lengths and EPs on digital storefronts like iTunes throughout the U.K. Legacy breaks back in at No. 21, The Best of Bowie compilation returns at No. 30, while Hunky Dory reappears at No. 61.

All three of those releases — Legacy, The Best of Bowie, and Hunky Dory — have spent time inside the top 10 on the Official Album Downloads chart. Bowie fills four spaces on the roster this time around, as Blackstar falls from No. 8 to No. 19. That set, released just days before his death in 2016, quickly became a bestseller again last time around, and while it falls, the decade-old studio effort continues to sell well. Blackstar is the only one of Bowie’s four charting titles on the downloads ranking that has ruled in the past.

Ziggy Stardust Becomes a Vinyl Bestseller Again

One other full-length by Bowie returns in the U.K., though it does not appear on the Official Album Downloads chart. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, often cited as not only one of Bowie’s best but a seminal work in rock music history, flies onto the Official Vinyl Albums list at No. 28.

Legacy and Ziggy Stardust Appear on Multiple Charts

Both Legacy and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars live on three rankings apiece, though not the same three. Legacy climbs on the Official Albums and Official Albums Streaming charts, while The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars lifts more than 15 spaces on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums rankings.

Just one more release by Bowie – as well as fellow musician Trevor Jones – takes up space on a U.K. roster. Labyrinth soundtrack nearly returns to the top 10 on the Official Soundtrack Albums chart, as it improves from No. 17 to No. 11, nearly finding its way back to the uppermost tier.

Bing Crosby and Mick Jagger’s David Bowie Collaborations

As four albums by Bowie return, two of his popular collaborations become bestsellers as well. “Dancing in the Street,” which also credits Rolling Stones star Mick Jagger, becomes a top 40 success once more on the Official Vinyl Singles chart, blasting in at No. 33. “Peace on Earth Little Drummer Boy” by Bowie and Bing Crosby, finds its way to No. 88 on the Official Physical Singles tally, despite the fact that in January, holiday music typically falls away pretty quickly.

Between those two returning tunes, only “Dancing in the Street” manages to appear on multiple rosters in the U.K. The Bowie/Jagger team-up soars from No. 64 to No. 35 on the Official Physical Singles list.

“Heroes” Falls But Remains a Major Hit in the U.K.

Bowie’s “Heroes,” one of his most popular smashes, is his biggest hit in the U.K. this week, even as it declines from where it sat only a short time ago. “Heroes” dips outside the top 40 on the Official Singles chart, the most competitive songs list in the country, while also sliding south by more than 10 spaces on the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads rankings. “Heroes” recently became a top performer again thanks to its use in the fifth and final season of Netflix’s sci-fi series Stranger Things.

UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach

The post UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. British crypto holders may soon face a very different landscape as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) moves to expand its regulatory reach in the industry. A new consultation paper outlines how the watchdog intends to apply its rulebook to crypto firms, shaping everything from asset safeguarding to trading platform operation. According to the financial regulator, these proposals would translate into clearer protections for retail investors and stricter oversight of crypto firms. UK FCA plans Until now, UK crypto users mostly encountered the FCA through rules on promotions and anti-money laundering checks. The consultation paper goes much further. It proposes direct oversight of stablecoin issuers, custodians, and crypto-asset trading platforms (CATPs). For investors, that means the wallets, exchanges, and coins they rely on could soon be subject to the same governance and resilience standards as traditional financial institutions. The regulator has also clarified that firms need official authorization before serving customers. This condition should, in theory, reduce the risk of sudden platform failures or unclear accountability. David Geale, the FCA’s executive director of payments and digital finance, said the proposals are designed to strike a balance between innovation and protection. He explained: “We want to develop a sustainable and competitive crypto sector – balancing innovation, market integrity and trust.” Geale noted that while the rules will not eliminate investment risks, they will create consistent standards, helping consumers understand what to expect from registered firms. Why does this matter for crypto holders? The UK regulatory framework shift would provide safer custody of assets, better disclosure of risks, and clearer recourse if something goes wrong. However, the regulator was also frank in its submission, arguing that no rulebook can eliminate the volatility or inherent risks of holding digital assets. Instead, the focus is on ensuring that when consumers choose to invest, they do…
