Tech journeys rarely follow a straight path, and for many women entering the tech ecosystem, the early days can feel confusing and isolating. For Elizabeth Rotimi, that uncertainty became the beginning of a mission.

Long before she became a recognised product manager and community builder, she was simply a tech enthusiast trying to navigate an industry that offered few clear roadmaps, limited resources, and almost no mentorship.

Instead of allowing that experience to slow her down, Elizabeth transformed it into purpose. As she began exploring opportunities and spending time on LinkedIn, she noticed a major gap: there was no dedicated community where tech enthusiasts could find guidance, share knowledge, and grow together.

Determined to change that, Elizabeth Rotimi created Techies on LinkedIn, a community designed to help tech talents access the support and direction she once searched for.

What started as a simple idea has since grown into one of the most visible communities for tech professionals and aspiring talent on the platform.

Today, the community empowers tens of thousands of members by providing access to mentorship, resources, career conversations, and opportunities that help individuals move from confusion to clarity in their tech journeys.

1. Summarise your mornings in one sentence

I start my mornings with prayer and reflection, read, connect on LinkedIn and then step into focused work sessions.

2. Describe your gadget setup

I currently work from the office. So, my setup is minimal and functional as I’ve just transitioned from school into full-time work. I primarily work with my laptops and a personal device, which are all I need to stay connected, productive, and focused throughout the day.

3. What tech tools/ applications do you use the most for work?

I primarily use Linear to manage product cycles, Figma for design collaboration, ClickUp for structured execution, and Google Workspace to keep communication and documentation streamlined across teams.

4. What do you do when you need inspiration?

I curate my inspiration deliberately through reading, intentional time away from screens to think deeply and high-level conversations that challenge my assumptions. I also leverage AI as a strategic thought partner.

5. What mobile application can you not do without daily?

Gmail and LinkedIn.

6. What tech solution do you wish someone had created?

I would love a platform that integrates mental, physical, and emotional well-being into one intelligent system, using AI and real-time data to anticipate needs, offer personalised interventions, and empower people to live healthier, more balanced and productive lives.

7. If you have unlimited time and money, what problem would you solve?

If I had unlimited time and resources, I would focus on dismantling the systemic barriers that prevent young Africans from accessing global opportunities. Too often, talent exists in abundance, but access to mentorship, practical experience, and visibility is limited.

I believe that potential alone isn’t enough; what’s missing are the structures and ecosystems that allow individuals to transform their skills and ideas into real-world impact.

I would create comprehensive ecosystems that democratize mentorship, skills, and visibility at scale. These platforms would connect young professionals with experienced mentors globally, provide access to challenging projects that build tangible portfolios, and amplify voices that might otherwise go unheard.

The goal would be to ensure that every capable young person, regardless of background or location, can access opportunities that match their potential.

8. Which woman in tech inspires you the most?

Many women in tech inspire me, but one who stands out in my area of work is Tobi Otokiti. I admire her vision, the impact she’s making in the tech ecosystem, and the example she sets for emerging professionals striving to combine innovation with purpose.

9. Which profound statement inspires you the most?

Excellence is built one deliberate step at a time.” It drives me to show up fully, day after day, with intention and focus. I decide that as long as I’m present and committed, excellence is not just an outcome, but a habit, a choice I make consistently, in every task, interaction, and decision.

UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach

The post UK crypto holders brace for FCA’s expanded regulatory reach appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. British crypto holders may soon face a very different landscape as the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) moves to expand its regulatory reach in the industry. A new consultation paper outlines how the watchdog intends to apply its rulebook to crypto firms, shaping everything from asset safeguarding to trading platform operation. According to the financial regulator, these proposals would translate into clearer protections for retail investors and stricter oversight of crypto firms. UK FCA plans Until now, UK crypto users mostly encountered the FCA through rules on promotions and anti-money laundering checks. The consultation paper goes much further. It proposes direct oversight of stablecoin issuers, custodians, and crypto-asset trading platforms (CATPs). For investors, that means the wallets, exchanges, and coins they rely on could soon be subject to the same governance and resilience standards as traditional financial institutions. The regulator has also clarified that firms need official authorization before serving customers. This condition should, in theory, reduce the risk of sudden platform failures or unclear accountability. David Geale, the FCA’s executive director of payments and digital finance, said the proposals are designed to strike a balance between innovation and protection. He explained: “We want to develop a sustainable and competitive crypto sector – balancing innovation, market integrity and trust.” Geale noted that while the rules will not eliminate investment risks, they will create consistent standards, helping consumers understand what to expect from registered firms. Why does this matter for crypto holders? The UK regulatory framework shift would provide safer custody of assets, better disclosure of risks, and clearer recourse if something goes wrong. However, the regulator was also frank in its submission, arguing that no rulebook can eliminate the volatility or inherent risks of holding digital assets. Instead, the focus is on ensuring that when consumers choose to invest, they do…
