MANILA, Philippines – The International Criminal Court (ICC) Appeals Chamber on Wednesday, April 22, denied former president Rodrigo Duterte’s appeal to dismiss the crimes against humanity case against him on the basis of jurisdiction.
The decision upheld the Pre-Trial Chamber’s decision in 2025.
The ruling means Duterte loses another chance to return to the country, and he will remain detained at The Hague, Netherlands. It also clears the way for a possible trial should the Pre-Trial Chamber decide to confirm Duterte’s cases.
