PRESIDENT Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. approved the expansion of the West Cebu Industrial Park-Special Economic Zone in Balamban, Cebu, a move the administration expects will draw new investments and strengthen the country’s manufacturing and export capacity.
Proclamation No. 1105, signed on Dec. 4, adds seven parcels of land totaling 69,490 square meters to the industrial hub.
The additional areas, located in the villages of Arpili and Buanoy, will be developed under the Special Economic Zone Act and relevant Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) rules.
The newly added parcels will be incorporated into the West Cebu Industrial Park-Special Economic Zone in accordance with the Special Economic Zone Act of 1995 or Republic Act (RA) No. 7916, as amended by RA No. 8748, its implementing rules and regulations, and PEZA Board Resolution No. 22-117, series of 2022.
In Arpili village, the expansion covers two titled lots, while five lots were included in Buanoy Village. — Chloe Mari A. Hufana
