The number still trails Airbus, which reported 81 deliveries for the same month.

Of the 60 deliveries, 51 were 737 MAX jets. That’s the highest single-month total for the model since production came back online in December 2024, following a labor strike that had halted output.

Boeing is now moving to increase 737 production from 42 to 47 aircraft per month, with the ramp-up planned for this summer.

The company booked 27 new orders in May. That included 14 737s earmarked for conversion into military aircraft for an undisclosed customer.

Lufthansa placed an order for 10 787 Dreamliners, one of the more eye-catching deals of the month.

Boeing also recorded 16 cancellations on 737 MAX orders during May, bringing net new orders to 11 for the month.

737 MAX Leads the Recovery

The 737 MAX has been central to Boeing’s production recovery story. The 51 deliveries in May represent a clear step forward from where the program was just months ago.

The planned increase to 47 jets per month this summer will be watched closely as a test of whether Boeing can hold that momentum.

May’s deliveries also included six 787 Dreamliners, one 777 freighter, and one 767 freighter.

The 787 program continues to face certification delays related to premium seating configurations, which has been a drag on that model’s output.

Year-to-Date Picture

Through the end of May, Boeing has delivered 250 aircraft in 2026. Of those, 198 were 737 MAX jets.

New orders through May totaled 324, with 29 cancellations or conversions, leaving 295 net new orders for the year so far.

The company’s total order backlog stood at 6,178 aircraft at the end of May.
