THE Department of Transportation (DoTr) said it is targeting to restore commercial operations at the General Santos International Airport within one week.
This came after the DoTr through the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said that commercial operations at the airport is temporarily suspended to prioritize military and relief efforts following the earthquake.
Transportation Acting Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez said the government is also fast-tracking the rehabilitation of the passenger terminal building of the airport.
“I am giving CAAP one week to rehabilitate to resume our commercial operations here at General Santos (GenSan) (airport),” Mr. Lopez said.
Furthermore, CAAP said that a total of 63 flights were canceled due to the suspension of airport operations. — Ashley Erika O. Jose
