SIPITANG, June 13 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today approved an immediate special allocation of RM250,000 for development purposes, including repair works on basic facilities at secondary schools in the Sipitang district.

He said details on the implementation of the assistance and the disbursement of the funds would be coordinated immediately by the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department.

“For school facilities, I am approving RM250,000 immediately. I do not want a project to be approved in June 2026 and only begin in August 2027. That is an outdated attitude,” he said when officiating at the groundbreaking ceremony of the Sabah Southern MADANI Link project here today.

Also present were Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) Datuk Mustapha Sakmud.

In this regard, the Prime Minister wants representatives from the relevant agencies to visit the affected schools within two weeks to assess their needs and process the assistance for the comfort of educators and students.

Anwar also called on all Sabahans to cooperate in ensuring that the close relationship and cooperation between the federal and state governments remain strong for the continuity of development.

He explained that political stability at both the state and federal levels is the most important pillar in enabling the government to focus fully on its agenda of improving the welfare of the people.

Anwar stressed that the time had come to end prolonged political disputes as they would only harm the state and deter foreign investment.

“That is why I think enough is enough with all these disputes over various issues. The country’s politics must be stable. If there is no stability, people will not invest and we cannot focus on development,” he said. — Bernama
