Gate Launches Hong Kong Stock Trading, Expanding Its Global Equity Investment Footprint

Cryptocurrency exchange Gate introduced Hong Kong stock trading services, expanding its coverage of global equity markets. Following an update to Gate App version v8.23.5 or higher, users can access Hong Kong-listed equities through the Gate Stocks section and trade using USDT, without the need for a traditional brokerage account or conversion into Hong Kong dollars. The development is positioned as a measure to reduce barriers to participation in international capital markets.

The initial rollout includes more than 1,000 Hong Kong-listed securities, covering major companies from both the Main Board and GEM of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. This includes firms such as Tencent Holdings, HSBC Holdings, CATL, China Mobile, Xiaomi Corporation, Meituan, BYD Company, Ping An Insurance, AIA Group, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing. The platform is expected to continue expanding its stock universe in line with regulatory requirements and market demand.

The Hong Kong stock service is integrated into the existing stock account framework used for US equities, allowing unified fund management, position tracking, and trading functions. Users transfer USDT from Spot or Unified Accounts into a dedicated Stock Account to begin trading. Prices, portfolio values, and profit and loss are denominated in Hong Kong dollars, with trading limited to regular market hours and excluding pre-market and after-hours sessions. Standard trading features such as order execution, asset monitoring, and portfolio management are supported within a unified interface.

Integrated Ecosystem Across Global Equity Markets

Gate Stocks currently supports more than 10,000 US-listed stocks and ETFs across major exchanges including the NYSE, Nasdaq, NYSE Arca, NYSE American, and BATS, with fractional trading available from 0.01 shares. The service is also linked to a VIP tier structure, where eligibility begins at $2,000 in holdings, offering reduced trading fees and access to dedicated account management services.

The inclusion of Hong Kong equities extends Gate’s broader equity offering, enabling users to allocate capital across both US and Hong Kong markets within a single platform. The system is designed to improve capital efficiency through unified accounts, USDT settlement, and expanded multi-market access.

The platform has also developed a broader traditional finance ecosystem that includes Pre-IPO offerings, IPO access, and secondary market trading, creating an integrated structure that spans multiple stages of the equity investment lifecycle.

Gate stated that future development will focus on expanding global equity coverage and enhancing the range of tradable financial instruments, with continued emphasis on building an integrated investment ecosystem combining pre-listing opportunities, IPO participation, and post-listing trading.

To trade Hong Kong stocks on Gate, users are required to update the app to version 8.23.5 or later, log into their account, navigate to TradFi → Stocks → Hong Kong Stocks, and transfer USDT into the Stock Account before initiating trades.

Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC

The post Franklin Templeton CEO Dismisses 50bps Rate Cut Ahead FOMC appeared on BitcoinEthereumNews.com. Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson has weighed in on whether the Federal Reserve should make a 25 basis points (bps) Fed rate cut or 50 bps cut. This comes ahead of the Fed decision today at today’s FOMC meeting, with the market pricing in a 25 bps cut. Bitcoin and the broader crypto market are currently trading flat ahead of the rate cut decision. Franklin Templeton CEO Weighs In On Potential FOMC Decision In a CNBC interview, Jenny Johnson said that she expects the Fed to make a 25 bps cut today instead of a 50 bps cut. She acknowledged the jobs data, which suggested that the labor market is weakening. However, she noted that this data is backward-looking, indicating that it doesn’t show the current state of the economy. She alluded to the wage growth, which she remarked is an indication of a robust labor market. She added that retail sales are up and that consumers are still spending, despite inflation being sticky at 3%, which makes a case for why the FOMC should opt against a 50-basis-point Fed rate cut. In line with this, the Franklin Templeton CEO said that she would go with a 25 bps rate cut if she were Jerome Powell. She remarked that the Fed still has the October and December FOMC meetings to make further cuts if the incoming data warrants it. Johnson also asserted that the data show a robust economy. However, she noted that there can’t be an argument for no Fed rate cut since Powell already signaled at Jackson Hole that they were likely to lower interest rates at this meeting due to concerns over a weakening labor market. Notably, her comment comes as experts argue for both sides on why the Fed should make a 25 bps cut or…
