MCMC previously denied the allegation that it blocked a news report on a court case involving Wan Azri Wan Deris and communications minister Fahmi Fadzil.
PETALING JAYA: Blogger Wan Azri Wan Deris, better known as Papagomo, has been barred from publishing defamatory content against the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission or spreading harmful material online after the High Court in Kuala Lumpur granted an ex parte injunction against him.
MCMC said the interim order issued on June 19 also prohibited Wan Azri from using any social media platform, whether through existing or new accounts, to spread harmful content.
The injunction would remain in force until an inter partes hearing or further direction was issued by the court, it said in a statement.
According to the internet regulator, the civil action stems from a notice of claim issued to Wan Azri on April 9, after he alleged that MCMC had blocked a MalaysiaGazette report.
The news report pertained to a court case involving communications minister Fahmi Fadzil and Wan Azri.
MCMC previously denied the allegation, saying it had never issued any request or directive to any media organisation or digital platform to remove the content.
