Trump stopped talking about these media stocks, but his portfolio didn’t stop trading them

Of the seven Fortune 500 companies in President Trump’s disclosed investment portfolio that also turn up somewhere in his public statements this year, five drew a clear 2026 comment from him: Apple, Nvidia, Boeing, Meta, and Disney — the last of which extends a fight that began in 2025.

But two others followed the opposite path. Comcast and Warner Bros. Discovery’s CNN were both targets of pointed Trump criticism last year, and both have gone quiet since.

Trump’s brokerage accounts, disclosed in his 2025 annual financial disclosure released in June 2026, traded Apple, Nvidia, Disney, Meta, Boeing, Warner Bros. Discovery and Comcast in 2025. Comcast notched 30 transactions across five accounts—more than Apple (28) and Nvidia (25) individually, and more than Boeing and Disney combined (21)—second only to Meta, at 33.

In April, Trump paid tribute to Tim Cook and Apple and demanded Disney fire late-night host Jimmy Kimmel — a dispute that started in the fall of 2025, when Kimmel was first suspended over separate remarks. In May, Trump told Fox News that China would buy 200 Boeing jets and personally invited Nvidia’s Jensen Huang to join his China delegation. In January, he told executives at Davos that Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg had shown him an AI data center “basically the size of Manhattan.”

Comcast, which donated millions toward Trump’s ballroom effort, and its corporate rival Warner Bros. Discovery were absent from all of it.

The Trump Organization maintains that the accounts are run by independent managers with no input from the president or his family on what gets bought or sold. The Trump Organization did not respond immediately to Fortune’s request for comment, but the White House told Fortune that “neither the President nor his family has ever engaged — or will ever engage — in conflicts of interest.”

Comcast’s June 29 decision to spin off NBCUniversal now puts that silence in front of the Federal Communication Commission–-which, under Trump’s appointee Brendan Carr, opened a formal investigation into Comcast’s DEI practices in February 2025 and has seemingly not closed it. Any moves by Comcast and NBCUniversal could trigger regulatory review because of Trump’s interest in media deals.

Comcast is the second-most heavily traded name in Trump’s portfolio among those seven companies, and it’s now walking into a major regulatory moment with the spinoff—yet it’s the one he hasn’t said a word about this year, despite spending much of 2025 attacking it by name.

Trump called CEO Brian Roberts a “lowlife” in February 2025 over the cancellation of an MSNBC host’s show. He said Comcast “should be forced to pay vast sums of money for the damage they’ve done to our Country.” In April 2025, he wrote that Comcast and Roberts “are a disgrace to the integrity of Broadcasting.” In May 2025, sitting beside South African President Cyril Ramaphosa in the Oval Office, he told a reporter that Roberts and “the people that run that place” should be “investigated.” In August, MSNBC rebranding to MS NOW drew a Trump post calling Roberts “dopey.”

“Does President Trump’s silence on Comcast mean anything in the context of the fact that his financial accounts traded their stock numerous times? Just the fact that you have to ask the question points to the problem,” Ann Skeet, the senior director of leadership ethics at the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics, told Fortune over email.

Comcast did not respond immediately to Fortune’s request for comment.

Warner Bros. Discovery follows a similar pattern–scrutinized one year, and then silence the next. Trump has periodically pushed for CNN, the company’s cable news arm, to be sold or overhauled as it moves through a merger with Paramount Skydance, but the sharpest version of that complaint, calling CNN’s leadership “corrupt or incompetent,” traces to December. No comparably direct statement from 2026 turned up in this reporting.

Warner Bros. Discovery did not respond immediately to Fortune’s request for comment.
