BTS fans likely only need to wait a few months before the boy band they love returns with new music. The septet has not released anything original for several years, as all seven men that make up the vocal troupe needed to take time away from their music careers to fulfill their mandatory military enlistment — a requirement for all men in South Korea by a certain age. “Ma City” Helps BTS Score a New No. 1 in America

BTS rules the World Digital Song Sales chart this week. The South Korean favorites are masters of the tally, as the seven singers have racked up dozens of champions over the years. “Ma City” returns out of nowhere this time around and blasts back in at No. 1.

“Ma City” appears on the World Digital Song Sales chart for only the second time. The track first reached the lineup in December 2015, and it conquers the ranking just under a decade after it arrived.

The Tenth Anniversary of “Ma City”

BTS fans returned to “Ma City” in an effort to honor the tune’s tenth anniversary. The cut was initially featured on the fourth EP by BTS, titled The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 2. That early career project, which barely broke onto the Billboard 200, saw lead single “Run” climb as high as No. 3 on the World Digital Song Sales tally when the K-pop troupe was still introducing itself as a musical entity to listeners in the U.S.

These days, the band has no problem scoring No. 1s on the World Digital Song Sales roster at any moment — even with a decade-old selection.

As BTS reappears out of thin air and collects a new No. 1, the group replaces one of its own members in the top spot on the World Digital Song Sales chart. “Ma City” takes over as “Spaghetti,” a collaboration between Le Sseerafim and J-Hope, backtracks from the peak position to No. 8 in its third week on the list.
