Bitcoin Dollar (BTCD) Information
Bitcoin Dollar (BTCD) is a decentralized finance protocol deployed on Ethereum mainnet. The protocol issues BTCD, a token structured with a 50/50 exposure to BTC and USD, designed to provide balanced exposure to both assets within a single instrument. sBTCD is the yield-bearing staked counterpart to BTCD, accruing returns through the protocol's underlying strategies. FISC is the protocol's governance token, which has not yet launched.
BTCD's core product infrastructure includes a USD Vault, which accepts USDC deposits and directs them into strategies designed to maintain BTC-neutral positioning. A Bitcoin Carry Vault, which would use BTC collateral to borrow stablecoins for deployment into yield-generating strategies, is in planning. A bdBTC Vault is currently in development.
The protocol uses Morpho's isolated lending markets as core infrastructure for its vault strategies. BTCD has received backing from Polygon Labs and Coinme. The protocol's primary yield sources are productive asset allocation across its BTC and USD-denominated positions, with supplementary returns available through volatility-based strategies during periods of market movement.
BTCD's stated purpose is to give users a mechanism for holding a balanced BTC/USD position while accessing yield generated from the underlying deployment of those assets, without requiring users to actively manage the rebalancing or yield strategies themselves.
Bitcoin Dollar (BTCD) Tokenomics: Key Metrics Explained and Use Cases
Understanding the tokenomics of Bitcoin Dollar (BTCD) is essential for analyzing its long-term value, sustainability, and potential.
Key Metrics and How They Are Calculated:
Total Supply:
The maximum number of BTCD tokens that have been or will ever be created.
Circulating Supply:
The number of tokens currently available on the market and in public hands.
Max Supply:
The hard cap on how many BTCD tokens can exist in total.
FDV (Fully Diluted Valuation):
Calculated as current price × max supply, giving a projection of total market cap if all tokens are in circulation.
Inflation Rate:
Reflects how fast new tokens are introduced, affecting scarcity and long-term price movement.
Why Do These Metrics Matter for Traders?
High circulating supply = greater liquidity.
Limited max supply + low inflation = potential for long-term price appreciation.
Transparent token distribution = better trust in the project and lower risk of centralized control.
High FDV with low current market cap = possible overvaluation signals.
