Tether’s Pressure to Raise Funds at 500 Billion Dollar Valuation
Tether is pressuring investors to commit to a fundraising round at a 500 billion dollar valuation within two weeks; it states that it may postpone the round if demand falls short of expectations. According to a report by The Information on Friday based on anonymous sources, the El Salvador-based firm has been seeking new capital since last year, but investors are cautious about the high valuation. This valuation would position Tether as one of the world’s largest financial companies, surpassing all US banks except JPMorgan Chase.

Tether’s largest product, the USDt (USDT) stablecoin, has a market value of 184 billion dollars. The company’s other prominent products are XAUT detailed analysis and Tether EURt (EURt). CEO Paolo Ardoino described these figures as hypothetical but defended the valuation. Meanwhile, Tether has hired KPMG for the first full audit of USDt reserves; PwC is preparing internal systems, according to the Financial Times.
