Binance requires every new user to complete Verified identity verification, a government ID plus a liveness check, before depositing, trading or withdrawing, and sets older unverified accounts to Withdraw Only.
Higher levels, Verified Plus and Enterprise, add documents and raise limits.
Binance shows each country's withdrawal limits inside the account rather than publishing one global figure.

Key Takeaways
  • Binance's verification FAQ, updated 5 June 2026, requires every new user to complete Verified before deposits and trades, and sets unverified existing accounts to Withdraw Only.
  • Verified needs a government ID plus a liveness check, Verified Plus applies where your region or payment channel requires it, and Enterprise Verification covers companies.
  • Binance publishes no global withdrawal limit; limits vary by country and appear on the Identification page, so the 0.06 BTC and 100 BTC figures date from July 2021.
  • Review usually completes within 48 hours, the photo steps must be finished within 15 minutes, and the app FAQ allows up to 10 attempts a day.
  • Binance.US, Binance Japan and Binance TH run their own KYC, EU sign-ups stopped on 1 July 2026 under MiCA, and no Binance entity holds UK authorisation.
  • MEXC publishes 80 BTC a day at Primary KYC and 200 BTC at Advanced with a stated 15-minute typical review, but does not serve the US, UK or EEA.

Why most Binance KYC guides are out of date

The top results for Binance KYC still describe four verification levels, a 0.06 BTC daily withdrawal limit without ID, and a 100 BTC limit with it.
Those numbers come from Binance's announcement of 27 July 2021, and they stopped applying the following month, when Binance made ID, selfie and face verification mandatory for every user.
Community posts on Binance's own Square platform add referral codes and tables that contradict each other, with one listing three tiers priced in USDT and another repeating the 2021 figures.
Binance's current verification FAQ, updated 5 June 2026, is the only source this guide treats as authoritative, and it does not publish a limit at all.
What follows is what that FAQ says, what each level asks for, how long the check takes, and how the rules change by country.

Binance verification levels in 2026

Binance describes three levels for individuals, plus a separate track for companies, and one leftover status for accounts that never verified.

Data verified as of 7 September 2026 against Binance's identity verification FAQ (updated 5 June 2026) and its app-version FAQ.
Binance's FAQ puts the trigger for the higher level plainly: depending on your region or the payment channels you select, you may need to raise your verification level.
One person gets one verified personal account; if you need a second, Binance points you to an entity account or to up to five sub-accounts under the verified account.
Every level ends with the same message about limits: check the Identification page for the most updated withdrawal limits for your country.

What documents Binance accepts and how the check works

The website flow starts at Account, then Identification, then Get Verified.
You select your country of residence, the country that issued your document, and the document type, which for most users means a passport, national ID card or driver's licence, with the options offered depending on the country selected.
You upload the document from your device or scan a QR code to continue on your phone; Binance notes that the manual upload option is not available in every country.
Both sides of an ID card are required before you can continue.
The liveness check follows: camera access on, no hats, glasses or filters, sufficient lighting, and the on-screen movements completed in one go without refreshing the browser or quitting the app.
You then confirm your personal details, and Binance warns that they must match the document exactly because they cannot be changed once confirmed.
Binance's app-version FAQ adds two mechanics: the photo steps have to be completed within 15 minutes, and you can attempt verification up to 10 times per day.

How Long Binance Verification Takes, and Why KYC Gets Rejected

Binance says submitted documents are usually reviewed within 48 hours, and that some particular cases take longer.
Approval arrives by email, and the Identification page shows your current level once it is done.
Binance's own instructions point to the usual reasons for a failed attempt: a document that is expired, unreadable or cropped, an issuing country that does not match the document, details typed in that differ from the ID, and a liveness check done with a hat, glasses, a filter or poor lighting.
For US customers, Binance.US publishes an acceptable documents policy that spells the same points out: US-issued IDs only, both sides uploaded, a legible image, an unexpired document, and an address that matches the account.
A separate Binance FAQ explains three situations where a verified account still loses withdrawal access: logging in from multiple IP addresses, skipping the face verification step, and submitting incomplete verification information.
Each of those is lifted by completing the missing step or contacting support through the app, not by opening a new account, which Binance treats as a duplicate.

Which Binance you verify with: limits and rules by region

The single most common question about Binance limits has no single answer, because Binance runs the global platform alongside separately licensed local companies.
Each local entity has its own onboarding flow, its own document list and its own limits, and the global platform itself shows different limits depending on the residence you select.

United States

Binance's global platform does not serve US residents; Binance.US is a separate company that requires you to reside in a supported state before you begin.
Binance.US runs two levels, Basic and Advanced, and says Advanced unlocks OTC trading and higher ACH deposit and withdrawal limits, with your personal limits shown on the Profile and Limits page rather than published as one figure.
MEXC does not serve US residents either, so this section is information only.

Japan

Binance discontinued its global platform for residents of Japan on 1 December 2023 and moved them to Binance Japan, a separately operated company with its own verification, permitted token list and JPY banking channels.
Global accounts belonging to Japan residents who did not pass Binance Japan verification were set to Withdrawal Only, the same mode Binance now applies to any unverified account.

Thailand

Binance TH, the Gulf Binance joint venture, verifies Thai nationals through the ThaID app and runs a separate identity flow for foreign nationals.
Its FAQ also shows how local rules move: from 13 July 2026, Binance TH stopped accepting verification applications from nationals of Myanmar.

European Union

Binance holds no MiCA authorisation and does not appear on the ESMA register of authorised crypto-asset service providers, which you can check on the ESMA MiCA page.
Press reports in August and September 2026 described some EU onboarding continuing while ESMA reviews the wind-down, so an EU resident who can still open an account should not read that as a licence.
MEXC holds no MiCA authorisation either and has ended services for residents of the European Economic Area, so EU readers should verify only with a provider listed on the ESMA register.

United Kingdom

The FCA's consumer warning on Binance Markets Limited, last updated 7 June 2023, states that no entity in the Binance Group holds UK authorisation or registration to conduct regulated business in the UK.
MEXC does not accept UK residents and appears on the FCA's warning list, so UK readers should treat this guide as reference material only.

What you can do on Binance without KYC

For a new account, nothing beyond browsing: Binance's FAQ states that all new users must complete Verified to access deposits and trades.
For an older account that never verified, the permissions are temporarily set to Withdraw Only, which Binance defines as fund withdrawal, order cancellation, position closing and redemption.
The 0.06 BTC daily allowance for basic-only accounts announced on 27 July 2021 lasted less than a month; by 20 August 2021 Binance required ID, a selfie and face verification from everyone, as Nasdaq reported at the time.
Selecting a false residence or routing through a VPN to reach a restricted version of the platform breaches the terms you accept at sign-up and can lead to restrictions on the account.
If you cannot or do not want to complete verification, the honest path is to withdraw your balance and use a provider licensed where you live.

Scam warning: KYC phishing and "verified account" sellers

Identity verification is the moment scammers target, because it is the one time a user expects to hand over an ID photo.
Three patterns dominate the search results for Binance KYC: lookalike domains with "binance" in the name that host their own "verification" pages, community posts that pair outdated limits with referral codes, and sellers offering pre-verified accounts.
Verify only inside the app or website after logging in through the address you typed yourself, and never upload documents in reply to an email, chat message or link.
Check any message claiming to be support with the exchange's official verification tool before responding, because neither Binance nor MEXC will contact you first to request your ID, password, 2FA code or a transfer.
Do not buy a verified account: the seller keeps recovery access, Binance allows one verified personal account per person, and both exchanges restrict accounts whose identity does not match the user, as our guide to MEXC account security explains.

Binance KYC vs MEXC KYC: Published Limits, Review Times and Attempts Compared

The second half of this guide sets Binance's rules against MEXC, which publishes this article, so read the disclosure at the end alongside the comparison.
Both exchanges now require identity verification for normal use; the differences are in what each publishes, how fast it states the review is, and what an unverified account can still do.

Data verified as of 7 September 2026 against Binance's verification FAQ (updated 5 June 2026), its app-version FAQ, and the MEXC KYC FAQ (2 June 2026).

Time to first trade

The pain on Binance is the waiting: you do not learn your withdrawal limit until you are inside the account, and the review can take up to two days.
MEXC states a different clock: its KYC FAQ says review is normally completed within 15 minutes, with 8 to 24 hours for complex cases, and Primary KYC needs a government ID and its details.
The same FAQ, dated 2 June 2026, sets the limits in advance: 80 BTC of crypto withdrawals per day at Primary KYC, 200 BTC at Advanced KYC, and 20,000 USD a day of fiat at Advanced.
Put that on a Friday evening: a user who submits on MEXC at 19:00 can, on the stated timing, be trading before dinner is over, while a Binance submission at the same hour may still be under review on Sunday.

What an unverified account can still do

Neither platform is a no-KYC exchange any longer, and the comparison is about how each closes the door.
Binance leaves an unverified existing account able to withdraw, cancel orders, close positions and redeem, and blocks deposits and new trades.
MEXC holds deposits made before verification until KYC is completed, may restrict trading depending on region, and releases withdrawals from an unverified account only through a withdrawal appeal, after which the account keeps withdrawal and position-closing rights only, per its KYC FAQ.
MEXC's KYC guide and its account restrictions guide cover the appeal steps and the 24-hour wait that applies to newly whitelisted withdrawal addresses.
Three limits keep this comparison honest.
First, MEXC is not available in the United States, the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area, and in Japan it appears on the FSA's list of unregistered operators, so a locally licensed Binance entity is the only one of the two that exists in those markets.
Second, MEXC allows only three verification attempts per level per day against Binance's ten, so a rejected photo costs more time on MEXC if you get it wrong three times.
Third, both exchanges reserve the right to tighten limits by region without notice, and MEXC's own Learn guide notes that its limits can change with regulatory requirements.
For a trader who wants to know the limit before creating the account, and to start the same day, the published numbers and the 15-minute clock are the difference.

Who should verify where

Verify on Binance if you live in a country where Binance runs a licensed local entity, if you need an entity account with sub-accounts, or if your bank's local fiat rails only connect to Binance.
Verify on MEXC if you want the withdrawal limit stated before you sign up, want the first trade the same day, or already hold a Primary KYC and only need the second step to reach 200 BTC a day.
If you are in the United States, the United Kingdom or the European Union, neither platform serves you on the terms described here, and the right comparison is among providers licensed in your own jurisdiction.

The MEXC View

We publish this guide on MEXC Learn, so we have an interest in how the comparison reads.
Two things we will not claim.
MEXC is not the more widely available option: Binance has locally licensed entities in Japan and Thailand and a separate US company, while MEXC serves none of those markets on comparable terms and is on Japan's FSA unregistered list.
MEXC is also not a no-KYC platform, whatever older articles say; deposits are held until verification, and withdrawals from an unverified account go through an appeal.
Where MEXC is ahead, the advantage is transparency and speed: published limits of 80 and 200 BTC a day, a stated 15-minute typical review, and two verification steps instead of a limit you discover after signing up.
Our MEXC review lists the other trade-offs, including the regions where MEXC is not available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is KYC mandatory on Binance?
Yes; Binance's verification FAQ, updated 5 June 2026, requires all new users to complete Verified before deposits and trades.
Existing accounts that never verified are set to Withdraw Only.

What documents does Binance KYC require?
A government-issued passport, national ID card or driver's licence, with both sides uploaded, plus a liveness check on camera.
The document types offered depend on the country you select.

How long does Binance verification take?
Binance says submitted documents are usually reviewed within 48 hours, with some cases taking longer.
The photo steps themselves must be completed within 15 minutes.

Can I use Binance without KYC?
No new deposits or trades are possible without Verified status.
An older unverified account can only withdraw, cancel orders, close positions and redeem products.

What is Binance Verified Plus?
Verified Plus is the higher individual level Binance asks for when your region or selected payment channel requires it, with additional documents requested in the app.
It raises the limits shown on your Identification page.

Why was my Binance verification rejected?
Binance's instructions point to expired, unreadable or cropped documents, details that do not match the ID, a wrong issuing country, and a liveness check done with a hat, glasses, a filter or poor lighting.
Fix the cause and resubmit rather than opening a second account.

Does the Binance withdrawal limit differ by country?
Yes; Binance states that limits vary by country and are shown on the Identification page rather than published as one figure.
Local entities such as Binance.US, Binance Japan and Binance TH set their own limits.

How does MEXC KYC compare?
MEXC publishes 80 BTC a day at Primary KYC and 200 BTC at Advanced, with review usually within 15 minutes.
MEXC is not available in the US, UK or EEA.

Disclosure and risk notice
