Every exchange with a marketing budget says its liquidity ranks first.
The only ranking that pays you back is the price your own order fills at.
This guide shows how to judge that yourself, using MEXC's October 28, 2026 order-book comparison and every 2026 third-party report, including where MEXC did not win.

Key Takeaways
  • Exchange liquidity only means something for a given market, price band and order size, and no venue was first on every combination in the 2026 reports here.
  • In MEXC's own comparison against four other major centralized exchanges, averaged over three days to October 28, 2026, MEXC had more depth within 0.01% of the mid price on 10 of 10 core assets and 18 of 20 stock futures.
  • In the same comparison, MEXC's simulated slippage was lowest on 19 of 20 stock futures at $10,000 and 10 of 10 core assets at $1,000,000, but not on BTC at $500,000.
  • TokenInsight's July and September 2026 reports placed MEXC first for BTC and ETH futures depth within 0.03%, with second and third places at wider bands and in spot.
  • CoinGecko's 2026 spot study put MEXC first for SOL and DOGE depth at the market price and last of eight for ETH depth within $3 of the price.
  • Depth decides your fill, so check near-price depth, slippage at your size and fees before volume or a liquidity score.

Which crypto exchange has the best liquidity?

The crypto exchange with the best liquidity depends on the market, price band and order size you measure, because no exchange ranked first on every combination in the 2026 TokenInsight reports, CoinGecko's 2026 spot study or MEXC's October 28, 2026 comparison.
MEXC led most of the narrowest bands in TokenInsight's July, August and September 2026 samples and placed second or third at wider bands.
In CoinGecko's 2026 spot study (eight exchanges, July 6 to September 3, 2026), MEXC had the deepest SOL and DOGE books at the market price but the thinnest ETH book within $3.

How do you judge liquidity for your own trade?

Judging liquidity for your own trade means measuring the order book at the price and size you plan to use, not reading a volume table, because volume counts trades already done while liquidity is the resting size that fills the next one.
The four checks, in order: near-price depth, slippage at your size, fees, and round-trip cost as a share of margin.

How do I fill a large trade with limited market impact?
Multi-band depth, large-order cost, staggered execution
Typical priorities, not fixed categories: institutions also watch near-price depth, and active retail traders also trade big.

The five measures TokenInsight uses

TokenInsight's August 2026 equity perpetuals report scores venues on product coverage, position limits by leverage tier, depth in bands around the mid price, median slippage on simulated sells, and P90 slippage, the level nine of ten fills landed at or below.
Its crypto exchange reports use depth, slippage and the bid-ask spread.

What does MEXC's latest order-book comparison show?

MEXC's latest order-book comparison shows more depth within 0.01% of the mid price than the best of four other major centralized exchanges on 10 of 10 core assets and 18 of 20 popular stock futures, and the lowest simulated slippage on most assets at most sizes, though not all.
In MEXC's own comparison of order-book snapshots against four other major centralized exchanges, averaged over three days to October 28, 2026, simulated slippage is the average of a buy and a sell against the snapshot mid-price, excluding fees and funding; each MEXC figure is set against the best of the four on that asset and size, and every figure is one side, so a round trip is twice it.
Two overlapping samples were measured, never added together: ten core assets (BTC, ETH, SOL, gold, silver, Brent, WTI, SK hynix, Micron and SpaceX perpetuals) and twenty stock futures such as AAPL, MSFT, TSLA, AMD, SPY, SPCX, NVDA and QQQ.
Within 0.01% of the mid price, MEXC's book was deeper on 10 of 10 core assets and 18 of 20 stock futures, with median multiples of 5.62x and 4.65x.
BTC held $16.59 million against $4.00 million (4.15x), silver $4.79 million against $0.44 million (10.89x), and SPY $6.94 million against $0.42 million (16.58x).
The guide to how near-price depth is measured explains why equal total depth can fill orders differently.

BTC at $500,000 is the exception: MEXC's simulated one-way slippage cost was $6.79 against $6.54 for the best other book, about $0.24 more.
A deeper near-price book does not mean the lowest slippage at every size, so the second check is slippage at your own order size, and one snapshot cannot promise the same result on every future trade.

How does MEXC rank in third-party liquidity reports?

MEXC ranked first in at least one headline measure in each of TokenInsight's four 2026 liquidity reports and in CoinGecko's 2026 spot study, but also second, third and, in one CoinGecko band, last, so the table lists every published rank, not just the wins.

The September crypto exchange liquidity report

In TokenInsight's September 2026 report, which sampled nine exchanges, MEXC's combined BTC and ETH futures depth within 0.03% was $21.03 million, first in the sample.
MEXC's release of September 24, 2026 adds the lowest BTC spot slippage on a $500,000 sell, 0.005%, and the lowest silver futures slippage on a $300,000 sell, 0.002%.

The July crypto exchange liquidity report

TokenInsight's July 2026 report (nine exchanges, June 15 to July 14, 2026) ranked MEXC first for combined BTC and ETH futures depth within 0.03% at $15.71 million and third within 0.05%.
MEXC's release of August 4, 2026 adds the lowest ETH futures slippage in the sample and second place for BTC.

The May crypto exchange liquidity report

TokenInsight's May 2026 report (eight exchanges, April 1 to May 12, 2026) found the lowest silver futures slippage and the tightest silver bid-ask spread, 1.196 bps.
MEXC's release of June 1, 2026 also reports first for ETH futures slippage at every size and third for precious metals futures depth.

Update log

The latest TokenInsight report on this page is the September 2026 Crypto Exchange Liquidity Report, summarized by MEXC on September 24, 2026.
The CoinGecko 2026 spot study and MEXC's October 28, 2026 comparison were added in this revision.
This page is updated in place when TokenInsight publishes its next report.

Where does MEXC lead, and where does it rank second?

MEXC leads most often in the narrowest price bands and on silver, ETH and the newer stock futures, and ranks second or third once the band widens to 0.05% or the measure moves to spot depth within 0.03%, across the May, July, August and September 2026 TokenInsight reports.
In September 2026 MEXC was first for BTC and ETH futures depth within 0.03% but second for spot depth within 0.03%, and in August 2026 first for equity perpetuals depth within 0.01% but second at 0.05% and 0.10%.
MEXC's October 28, 2026 comparison shows the same shape: deeper near-price books on 10 of 10 core assets and 18 of 20 stock futures, but higher simulated slippage than the best other book on BTC at $500,000.
Liquidity also moves with the clock: weekend equity perpetuals volume in TokenInsight's August 2026 sample was 9.9% of the weekday level, and the weekend and off-hours liquidity guide covers what that does to a Saturday order.

How deep are MEXC's stock perpetual futures books?

MEXC's stock perpetual futures books held a cumulative median depth of $0.52 million within 0.01% of the mid price across the five sampled equity perpetuals in TokenInsight's August 2026 report, first in the five-exchange sample, with $2.81 million within 0.05% and $5.99 million within 0.10%, second at both.
The August 2026 Equity Perpetuals Market Report sampled five contracts on weekdays from July 29 to August 6, 2026; MEXC's median $100,000 slippage was lowest on three.
It counted 310 equity perpetuals on MEXC as of July 29, 2026, the most in the sample, listed by market in the guide to MEXC's stock futures coverage.
MEXC was also the only venue consistently supporting a meaningful position on all five contracts at 100x, a cap the guide to leverage tiers and position limits shows contract by contract.
Stock futures are one of three ways to trade US stocks on MEXC, and the Wall Street Without Walls pillar sets them beside RealStocks and tokenized stocks.

How does depth translate into what you pay on an order?

Depth translates into cost through slippage: a market order eats resting orders level by level, so the dollar cost equals order size times slippage in basis points divided by 10,000, and a thin book near the price raises that number.
At the SPCX median of 0.0112% in TokenInsight's August 2026 sample, a $100,000 sell costs about $11.20 (100,000 x 0.0112 ÷ 100 = 11.20); budget for the P90 fill of 0.0230% around news.
In MEXC's October 28, 2026 comparison, a $100,000 AAPL order showed $1.66 of simulated one-way slippage cost against $14.27 on the best other book, a saving of $12.61 or 88%.
As of November 2026, MEXC lists maker and taker fees from 0.00% on selected stock futures for eligible users; rates vary by region and promotion, and a pair returns to its standard rate when its 0-fee period or quota ends.
Fees, slippage and funding add up over a round trip, and the guide to your total trading cost on futures works the full example.

How can you check MEXC's depth yourself before trading?

You can check MEXC's depth in three places before you trade: the order book, which shows the size resting at each price, the depth chart, which stacks that size up around the mid price, and the risk-limit page, which shows the largest position each leverage tier allows.

The order book

Open the contract and look past the last price to the bid and ask ladders: thick, continuous rows near the mid price are near-price depth, and gaps are where a market order jumps.

The depth chart

The depth chart draws the same ladders as two curves, bids in green and asks in red, and a steep curve near the mid price is the 0.01% band in picture form.
The guide on how to read a depth chart walks through the axes and crossover point.

The risk-limit page

The MEXC risk-limit page lists each contract's maximum position per leverage tier, the cap TokenInsight's position-limit test measures.
MEXC's trading-hours guide marks the hours outside the regular US session as medium- or low-liquidity periods, when slippage can rise, so size down then.

Is exchange liquidity the same as trading volume, a liquidity score, or reserves?

Exchange liquidity is not the same as trading volume, a liquidity score or reserves: volume counts trades already done, a score blends inputs into one number, reserves show what an exchange holds, and liquidity is the resting size that decides your next fill.
An exchange-level liquidity score is a fair first screen, but it cannot show the 0.01% depth on the contract you trade.
Reserves answer a different question, whether client assets are backed, and MEXC publishes Proof of Reserves for that.
Proof of Reserves is a point-in-time snapshot verified by Hacken that covers only the listed assets and is provided for reference. It is not a full third-party financial audit and does not guarantee ongoing solvency.

FAQ

Is MEXC liquid?
MEXC ranked first for near-price depth or slippage in each of TokenInsight's four 2026 reports and in its own October 28, 2026 comparison, and second or third at wider bands.

Which exchange has the best liquidity for my order size?
No exchange was first on every market, band and order size in the 2026 reports covered here, so check depth and simulated slippage at your own size.

What is near-price depth?
Near-price depth is the dollar value of resting orders within a narrow band such as 0.01% of the mid price, the size a market order consumes first.

What is P90 slippage?
P90 slippage is the 90th-percentile fill, the cost one order in ten was worse than, a bad fill rather than a typical one.

Does lower slippage mean lower total cost?
Not by itself, because total cost adds fees and any funding to slippage, and a round trip pays slippage twice.

Where can you check an exchange's liquidity yourself?
Read the sizes at the best bid and ask and the next levels on the order book or depth chart, then check the position cap for your leverage on the risk-limit page.

Conclusion

Top 1 for whom?
The answer is the trader whose order fills close to the screen price, and the data above shows where MEXC's books did that and where they did not.
Check the live book against those figures before you size an order.
